Understanding rule-based QR codes

We recently released a new feature called rule-based QR codes.

In short, a rule-based QR code allows you to redirect users to different destinations based on multiple conditions that you define without ever changing your dynamic QR code or print it again.

We strongly suggest you to read our article about conditional redirects to understand it better.

How to create a QR rule

Creating rules for your QR codes is simple:

  1. Log in to your account dashboard
  2. Create a new QR code or choose an existing one
  3. Click on the "Rules" button
  4. Add a new rule by clicking on "Add rule +"

From there, you can define the conditions and the target destination of your rule based on the value of different fields. Now, let's see how we can leverage this to redirect iOS users to a different destination.

Redirect iOS users to a different destination

After you added a new rule, define the following conditions like this:

  • Field - Platform
  • Operator - Is one of
  • Value - Apple iOS, iPhone, iPad, iPod

To finish, add your desired destination under the conditions.

Redirect Android users to a different destination

Follow the same steps as above, but change the "Value" field:

  • Field - Platform
  • Operator - Is one of
  • Value - Android, Samsung

And of course, don't forget to set your new destination.

A small note...

You may have noticed that we have multiple values such as "Apple iOS, iPhone, iPad" etc... You might be wondering why there are so much options.

Well, this is all about granularity. We want you to be able to do exactly what you want, in details.
